Future of Domestic Flights in Denmark is Possibly Green

Updated: Jan 19, 2022

During Denmark's PM Mette Frederkison's New Years's address for 2022, she stated that she wants to make flying "green" by 2030. Although she acknowledged that her goal has yet to have solutions in place, she is hopeful that Denmark can cut 70 percent of carbon emissions by 2030, compared to 1990.

She states that, "When other countries in the world are too slow. Then Denmark must take the lead and raise the bar even more." However even though this goal is considered to be far-fetched, aircraft producers such as Airbus in Europe have planned to have hydrogen-fuelled planes that could be operational by 2035. Sweeden also seems to have a similar plan by 2030 and plans to have international flights carbon-free by 2045.
