Is it a good idea to use robots for human jobs?

Updated: Nov 16, 2020

Currently, the Republic of South Korea is deploying many kinds of new contactless services in the fight to stop the spread of Covid-19 and to help South Korea’s economic recovery. From virtual doctors to online shopping and ordering, digital technologies are revolutionizing the future and are helping tremendously to minimize human interactions. I think it’s crucial to have these kinds of services in order to stop the spread of Covid-19.

That brings us to the question; is it a good idea to replace human jobs with robots? And when is it necessary to replace humans with these new technologies?. Firstly, because many people are worried about robots conquering the world, I want to say that these robots are specifically designed by highly-trained individuals so that the robots will not act crazy.

In my opinion, I think that it depends on the country. For example, I think it’s is necessary to replace human jobs with robots during pandemics, or in countries with a high elderly population who are retired, like Japan. However, I think you should not replace humans with robots in countries with a large number of younger people where there is a need for human jobs.

In conclusion, I think it is necessary to use robots during times like this or in certain countries. However, I think the government should think about the downsides of high unemployment rates that robots might create in many countries.

Replacing too many jobs with robots might also create protests by humans around the world about unemployment, similar to problems we face during Covid-19. I think any sudden change to our society will heavily affect us in many ways.
